Amelia is a devoted single mother to Ruby, the daughter she conceived through donor insemination. With no extended family, the two have always been a team of two. But when Ruby is assigned a school project to create a family tree, she’s heartbroken - she feels like she doesn’t have one.
Determined to fill in the missing branches, Ruby convinces Amelia to pursue a DNA test in hopes of finding her biological father. The search leads them to TJ, a man completely unprepared for fatherhood but suddenly faced with the reality of it. As TJ grapples with his unexpected role, Amelia must confront painful memories of her own father’s betrayal - and decide whether she’s ready to let someone new into their close-knit world.
